Director of Tax

Centara Capital is seeking a hands-on Tax Manager with 6 to 10 years of experience in public accounting, with an emphasis in tax. The ideal candidate will be versed in tax consulting strategies in addition to possessing strong compliance skills. The ability to consider tax scenarios and propose tax solutions for high net worth clients is critical. An interest or ability in financial planning is desired. On the compliance side, duties will include reviewing and signing individual, corporate, partnership, trust, and estate tax returns.
Essential Functions:
- Advise clients on the tax impact of proposed financial planning.
- Coach, mentor and lead a team of professionals.
- Develop and monitor department efficiencies.
- Communicate with various departments within the organization and gain a solid understanding of the business operations and functions.
- Will be responsible for reviewing and signing individual, corporate, partnership, trust, and estate tax returns using Lacerte.
- Will be required to meet with clients and deliver tax returns.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state tax laws.
- Proficient in reviewing various tax returns to include corporate, trust, estate and individual returns.
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex tax issues and interpret complex tax rules and regulations.
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Problem solving and project management skills.
- Must be proficient in Lacerte, Microsoft Word, Excel, & Outlook.
- Prior management experience required.
- Must have good tax research skills and tax consulting experience.

Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in business from an accredited four-year college or university is preferred. Must have a minimum of 3-4 years experience in the financial services industry and an ability to show a proven track record. Certification requirements include Series 6 or 7, 65 and a California Life and Health Insurance license. A completed CFP® would be preferred. Candidates are required to have an existing client base.
